Post-punk & rock power on the horizon with Viagra Boys and Fontaines D.C.!

VIAGRA BOYS

Should an umpteenth nostalgic rocker earnestly splutter in your face that rock is dead, grab him firmly by the earlobes and drag him to face the Viagra Boys. Far from magazine poses and fake punk choruses, the seven Swedes will deploy their glistening arsenal and genuine urgency to hit you right in the torso. Obviously there’s some Lemmy and Jesus Lizard in this sturdy yet unfrocked youth as well as a shower of synths, grimy yet plump basslines and the voice of Sebastian Murphy who shouts his nonchalant rage with foamy elegance. With their noisy, howling post-punk soaked in warm beer, the Viagra Boys will definitely have your guitars drooling.

FONTAINES D.C.

They’re young, turbulent and Irish. This somewhat moronic attribute of any ordinary night in a random pub in Dublin is the musical DNA of Fontaines D.C. Guilty of a sweaty and youthful blend of post-punk that’s grown under bar tables after class, the five lads understood right from the beginning that volume isn’t enough in itself to colonise the streets with guitars. In this noisy fury, Fontaines D.C. successfully extract melodic gems directly reminiscent of Morrissey or The Libertines (to name but a few). On top of that, between you and me, these Irish fragrances in Grian Chatten’s accent are enough to make us fall in love with these kids and their bright future.
