In “MDLSX” (for Middlesex), stagehand, DJ, lighting engineer and prop master Silvia Calderoni doesn’t do theatre: she dynamites it.

Alone on stage, Silvia Calderoni delivers a scathing monologue that makes light of sexual boundaries and social norms. Autobiographical accounts and literary quotations clash in an electrifying queer manifesto, all this to the music of The Smiths, Buddy Holly and Stromae. The naked young woman moves away from man-woman dialectics and reveals herself as increasingly androgynous, opening a range of possibilities within which gender identity is no longer fixed.
